Senior Roadway Inspector

Job Summary
Conduct roadway and bridge construction inspections by observing contractor work, verifying progress and quality, and performing field surveys and layout computations. Review and interpret contract documents to ensure compliance, coordinate junior inspectors, and maintain detailed records of daily operations and significant events. Perform sampling and field testing of component materials and completed work, including making and checking engineering computations. This role works outside on active construction sites in the Waynesville, NC area, requiring a valid driver's license and vehicle operation on highways and job sites. Candidates need seven years of relevant experience, materials sampling/testing certifications, and a tolerance for exposure to the elements.
Required Qualifications
- high school diploma or equivalent and seven years relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- experience in construction inspection, including exposure to bridge and/or roadway construction inspection, or a degree in civil engineering
- materials sampling/testing certifications
- valid driver's license
- insurable
- ability to safely operate a vehicle on the highway and on construction sites
