Job Summary
Senior Roadway Inspector independently observes contractor work during highway/bridge construction, acts as Owner’s Representative for State/Federal/local clients, maintains daily diaries and progress reports, reviews plans/specifications, verifies substantial compliance, coordinates with client/contractor/regulators, reviews pay requests and shop drawings, and conducts field QA inspections while traveling to remote locations within Colorado and the western United States. The role requires strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills, plus ability to plan, prioritize, and advise project managers on delays or failures. Certifications (or ability to obtain) and experience with roadway and bridge construction are advantageous.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field
- With Associate's degree, eight years of related experience
- Without a degree, ten years of related experience is required
- Certification (or ability to obtain) in applicable areas of work assignments as required by clients
- Experience with roadway construction
- Experience with bridge construction and mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) walls is a plus
- Good mathematical, analytical and organizational skills
- Must have good computer skills
- Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing
- Ability to walk long distances, climb ladders, stoop, squat and crawl to inspect work
- Must be able to work outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions
- Position may require nonstandard work shifts
