Senior Roadway Design Technical Expert

Job Summary
Lead the conceptual, schematic, and preliminary design of complex roadway, highway, interchange, bikeway, trail, and pedestrian projects. Direct engineering design tasks including highway alignments, roundabout design, grading, modeling, curb ramps, signing, pavement plans, and storm drainage. Create design recommendations for intersections based on project geography, prepare preliminary and final design documents, cost estimates, and bid documents using local and federal standards. Utilize software such as MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, AutoCAD, and Civil 3D to perform detailed design reviews and assist Project Managers with proposals, scope, schedule, and budgeting. Coordinate across disciplines with teams in bridges, traffic, site development, and planning while mentoring design staff. Work on diverse transportation projects spanning multiple clients and states.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering or related technical design field
- A minimum of 8+ years of professional experience
- Must be a licensed PE
- Ability to lead design as well as allocate work to others
- Expertise in Roadway, Highway, Trail, Bikeway/Pedestrian and/or Roadway Drainage design
- Expertise in Civil 3D and/or MicroStation, and OpenRoads Designer (ORD)
- Ability and desire to mentor design staff
- Possess strong organizational skills to successfully manage multiple priorities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
- Ability to work across disciplines and coordinate with other firms on projects
- Applicants must already possess work authorization in the country the job is located
Desired Qualifications
- 15+ years preferred
- Experience with ODOT, INDOT, PennDOT, FDOT, TxDOT is a plus
