Job Summary
Senior Right to Access Officer to make and review decisions about access to information under the GIPA Act, and to support the team in delivering quality customer service and ensuring statutory compliance. Responsibilities include processing and reporting on access requests, applying information access legislation, drafting robust decisions capable of withstanding external scrutiny, coordinating projects, and contributing to process improvements. Requires strong legal analysis and decision‐making skills, experience with FOI/GIPA processes, and a commitment to public education and Aboriginal education priorities. Flexible/hybrid work arrangements are available within an ongoing, full‐time role. The position is within the NSW Department of Education and involves interacting with oversight bodies, ensuring compliance, and delivering quality outcomes for Aboriginal communities in partnership with relevant policy frameworks.
Required Qualifications
- Legal qualifications for NSW, or tertiary qualifications in a related area, or other relevant legal experience highly desirable
- Ability to apply information access legislation including the GIPA Act
- Experience in making decisions in response to information requests
- Strong communication and collaboration skills within a legal team
- Ability to manage complex reviews and projects and respond to external oversight bodies
- Commitment to Aboriginal Education Policy and NSW AECG Partnership Agreement
