Senior Rig Electrician

Job Summary
Collaborate with the rig manager on maintenance, repairs, and planning to prevent equipment breakdown delays. Install, troubleshoot, repair, maintain, commission, and test electrical equipment and systems on rigs, including converting AC to DC power via SCR control rectifiers. Inform the rig manager weekly of required electrical supplies, tools, and parts to ensure safe operational levels. Conduct job duties safely in compliance with HSE policies, acting as the audit lead for the Electrical Safety Policy and assisting in identifying operational non-conformances. Assist the driller in daily rig site duties and provide support to mechanics and welders during rig and camp moves.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of ten (10) years demonstrable experience as a rig electrician
- Valid journeyman card and license by the State of Alaska or a State with reciprocity
- Experience in single and three-phase systems
- Experience in power generation
- Experience in PLC controls
- Experience in SCR as well as AC powered rigs
- Knowledgeable in trouble shooting electrical systems
- Familiarity with assorted hand tools
- Functionally literate, able to read, write, and perform basic math
- Ability to read electrical blueprints
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of coiled tubing capabilities
- Knowledge and understanding of well control and downhole hydraulics
- Knowledge and understanding of how to use calculations needed to perform essential functions
- Familiarity and ability to continue advancing knowledge with systems such as Pason
- Familiarity with oilfield-related equipment and procedures
