Senior RF Electrical Developer
$88,800–$111,000 year
On-site · Mississauga, Ontario, Canada
Job Summary
Senior RF Electrical Developer needed to lead the design and integration of MRI-compatible medical devices that operate safely inside the MRI bore. Responsibilities include designing RF/subsystems (signal paths, filtering, shielding, grounding), creating systems immune to MRI RF pulses and gradient-induced interference, developing and validating RF-powered subsystems for high-powered ultrasound within the MRI environment, ensuring RF safety and mitigating induced currents and cable heating, designing shielded interconnects (cable traps, baluns, feedthroughs), performing EMC/EMI analysis in MRI settings, coordinating with system/mechanical teams for MR-conditional design, developing and executing MRI compatibility test methods (phantom testing, in-bore validation, artifact evaluation), analyzing and minimizing MRI image artifacts caused by device operation, and collaborating with clinical/regulatory teams for MR safety classification (MR Safe / MR Conditional). The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or RF Engineering, 7+ years of RF/system design experience (preferably MRI-related), hands-on RF testing skills (VNA, spectrum analyzer, oscilloscope), and strong knowledge of RF shielding, grounding, and filtering. Location: Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. Salary range for CAD 120k-150k is provided in CAD with the final compensation determined by experience; benefits such as group RRSP and medical benefits may apply.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, RF Engineering or a related discipline
- 7+ years of experience in RF/system design, preferably in MRI-compatible or electromagnetically harsh environments
- Strong understanding of RF coupling, shielding, grounding, and filtering techniques
- Experience designing systems exposed to high electromagnetic fields and transient interference
- Hands-on experience with RF test equipment (VNA, spectrum analyzer, oscilloscope)
- Experience with system-level integration and debugging, not just component design
- Knowledge of MRI safety considerations and related standards (e.g., ASTM F2503)
