Job Summary
Senior Research Technician in Gastroenterology lab to design and execute batch and bioreactor fermentation, isolate human gut microbial strains, and build synthetic microbial communities. Responsibilities include culturing patient gut microbial communities, maintaining cryo-stocks, collaborating to design custom communities, and supporting metagenomic sequencing analyses (e.g., 16S). Provides training in anaerobic microbiology and participates in academic collaborations; supervises technicians and ensures safety and compliance. Strong emphasis on experimental design, documentation, data analysis, and cross-team coordination.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in related field
- 2-5 years of work experience in a related job discipline
- Master’s degree in Microbiology strongly preferred
- Experience overseeing a laboratory space or unit and supervising the work of technicians and other staff
- Experience with bioreactor setups and batch culture
- Experience with aseptic and microbiological techniques
