Senior Research Software Engineer - Parametric

Job Summary
Work closely with the business unit to understand and document requirements, then design and develop integration solutions with third-party data providers and systems. Create unit, integration, and functional tests while conducting code reviews and merge-request reviews to ensure compliance with SDLC requirements. Act as the security expert for the development team by advocating for secure coding practices and implementing security-related features. Research and implement cross-functional software development initiatives that may be passed off to other groups later. This role is part of Parametric's Quantitative Development team, which supports portfolio management and strategy with equity models and tools for portfolio construction and backtesting. The position operates under a hybrid model with three days in the office.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience developing cloud native applications
- Python design and development experience
- Experience with object-oriented coding languages such as C# or Java
- Strong knowledge of various AWS cloud services like ECS, S3, Batch, EC2
- In depth experience with various message streaming technologies like Kafka
- Solid understanding of Docker containerization
- IaaS familiarity
- Working knowledge of Terraform
- Familiarity with version control systems such as GIT or SVN
- Working experience with agile development
- Familiarity with continuous integration and build tools
- Working knowledge of NoSQL databases like DynamoDB, MongoDB etc.
- Proven track record of becoming a subject matter expert in areas related to current assignments
- Effective communication skills with business users and other developers
- Ability to work well in a highly social and collaborative environment
Desired Qualifications
- Python design and development experience is a plus
