Job Summary
Synthesize target compounds using classical and modern technology, modifying reaction conditions to ensure rapid production. Conduct literature searches for specific compounds and reactions, while utilizing analytical instrumentation like NMR, IR, and HPLC to monitor experiments and analyze products. Perform advanced purification and isolation of sensitive materials under anhydrous and oxygen-free conditions, maintaining strict compliance with the Chemical Hygiene Plan and all federal, state, and local regulations. Organize concurrent reactions to manage multiple projects effectively, communicate research results and plans with supervisors and colleagues, and independently challenge established procedures to improve product quality. This role may include direct supervisory responsibilities.
Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry with specialization in total synthesis or organometallic chemistry
- Chemical Hygiene training
- Must pass a background check
- Must pass a drug screen
Desired Qualifications
- May be required to pass Occupational Health Screening
- May be required to obtain and maintain gowning certification
