Senior Research Director, Identity and Access Management (Remote United States)

Job Summary

Conduct daily research and analysis on Identity and Access Management technologies, services, and trends to guide clients through selection, deployment, and operations in corporate and cloud environments. Meet with clients via video conference, face-to-face visits, or events to deliver actionable advisory research documents and respond to inquiries. Collaborate with a globally distributed team, business stakeholders, and IT partners to design innovative analytics solutions and predict market developments. Maintain industry leadership by covering advanced authentication, cloud service providers, and specific IAM domains like IGA, EAM, and PAM while defending conclusions against vendors.

Required Qualifications

  • 12 years + experience in a research or technology related role
  • Demonstrated analytical skills, including the ability to apply conceptual models, and to recognize patterns while drawing and defending conclusions
  • Articulate and succinct communication skills
  • Experience in speaking engagements
  • Best practices for general IAM technology selection, procurement, and implementation and for IAM operations and governance
  • IAM program management and governance, including vision and strategic planning; talent management; developing policies; controls and operational process; program maturity assessment
  • Advanced authentication solutions (e.g., Cisco Duo, Microsoft Entra and Okta)
  • IAM for cloud service providers (e.g., Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform and Microsoft Azure)
  • IGA tools - knowledge of the product market, best practices for requirements definitions and technology selection, and best practices for deployment and governance
  • Externalized Authorization Management (EAM) tools, which provide decoupled runtime controls for fine-grained authorization: knowledge of the product market, best practices for requirements definitions and technology selection, and best practices for deployment and governance
  • Access Management (AM) - software and cloud-based services that use access control engines to provide centralized authentication, Single Sign-On (SSO), session management and authorization enforcement for target applications in multiple use cases
  • Privileged Access Management (PAM) - tools and techniques for managing and monitoring privileged accounts and access
  • Bachelor's or equivalent experience
