Job Summary
Senior Research Associate (Contractor) to help grow Freenome's Genomics Late Stage Development by developing, characterizing, and validating clinical-grade NGS-based assays for a multiomic platform. Will work on assay technologies for DNA including genome-wide and targeted approaches, perform experimental design, data collection and analysis, troubleshoot and optimize lab workflows, and collaborate with engineering, clinical operations, and cross-functional teams to transfer development protocols into clinical production in a regulated, high-throughput environment. The role is onsite in Brisbane, CA and reports to the Manager of Genomics Late Stage Development. Responsibilities include SOP writing and adherence to cGLP/cGDP, data presentation, and contributing to study protocols and documentation.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, or related field
- at least 4 years of professional life sciences experience
- experience executing verification and validation studies for IVD assays in a regulated laboratory environment (GLP)
- hands-on NGS-based assay development experience (extraction, library preparation, target capture, sequencing)
- familiarity with molecular biology/genomics/NGS/assay development workflows
- experience designing, planning, executing experiments, interpreting results, and presenting data
- high attention to detail and meticulous observation record-keeping
- ability to pipette manually with precision
- clear, proactive communication and cross-functional collaboration
- strong organizational skills and willingness to develop new processes
- flexibility and motivation to learn new skills
- Nice-to-have: experience with methylated ctDNA/cfDNA, automated liquid handlers and LIMS, and programming in Python or R
