Job Summary
Identify, plan, lead, and report on complex research projects examining justice system interventions, racial disparities, and recidivism trends. Conduct random control trials, quasi-experimental analyses, and resource allocation cost-benefit studies using statistical software like SAS, Stata, and R. Prepare narrative and statistical reports for executive leadership and state agencies. This full-time, limited-duration role requires a hybrid schedule (one day in the office) and includes a criminal background check. The Oregon Criminal Justice Commission uses these findings to improve the legitimacy and efficiency of statewide criminal justice systems.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in any disciplines that included six-quarter units in statistics or quantitative analysis methods and procedures
- Three years experience using computerized applications to independently gather, compile, and analyze data and prepare narrative or statistical reports
- Two of the three years must have included coordinating complex research projects
- Five years of research experience using computerized applications to independently gather, compile, and analyze data and prepare narrative or statistical reports
- Two of the five years must have included coordinating complex research projects
- Advanced educational background in economics, criminal justice, sociology, or related fields
- Extensive training in and knowledge of statistics, research methods, experimental and quasi-experimental design
- Advanced technical experience in use of statistical software such as SAS, Stata, R, Tableau, and the use of other productivity software including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Demonstrated success and advanced knowledge of project management and project management principles for complex research projects
- Skill in analyzing data using basic statistical techniques, gathering data from primary and secondary sources, and analyzing and interpreting data
- Experience writing effective analytic narratives to describe findings to a variety of audiences such as executive leadership, legislators, and other state agencies
- Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States

- The successful candidate for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility
