Job Summary
Senior Relationship Manager, Middle Market in the Detroit metro area is responsible for new business origination and relationship management with middle-market Companies (30M+ revenue targets) in Southeast Michigan. Lead deal flow by coordinating a team of product specialists (capital markets, rates and FX derivatives, treasury management, etc.), portfolio managers, and operations to originate, pursue, and close loans and associated financial solutions while maintaining strong client relationships. Partner with regional leadership to execute a strategic plan, monitor credit quality, gather financial statements, and ensure regulatory and internal compliance. Requires 10+ years of commercial lending experience, established client networks, and proven ability to generate cross-sell opportunities across banking services; strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills are essential.
Desired Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Bachelor’s degree (preferred)
- Formal Credit Training (preferred)
- 10+ years of Commercial financing or equivalent lending experience
- Established relationships and demonstrated direct origination track record with relevant companies
- Expertise in negotiating, structuring, and closing complex loans
- Strong analytical and credit skills
- Excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to mentor less experienced Relationship Managers and Portfolio Managers
- Experience in cross-selling banking services including treasury management, interest rate protection, and syndication products (FX & commodities knowledge a plus)
- Knowledge of credit underwriting, due diligence, and legal documentation
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
- Compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations
