Job Summary
Develop new and retain existing customer relationships by proactively identifying sales opportunities through portfolio management and consultative outreach. Execute the full sales process including pre-call planning, appointment preparation, client interactions, and follow-up to progress development plans. Evaluate financing requests, recommend loan structures, and submit complete application packages while adhering to compliance, fraud prevention, and Know Your Customer (KYC) standards. Research industry verticals and fluently explain complex products such as mortgages, HELOCs, and merchant services to diverse business customers. Serve as a liaison with business partners and Centers of Influence to drive referral opportunities and cross-sell retail solutions.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Minimum of 3 years proven retail sales, call center, customer service and/or telesales experience
- OR
- Minimum of 2 years proven proactive sales experience
- Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to demonstrate exceptional customer service
- Well organized individual with time management and prioritization skills
- Demonstrated financial services product knowledge
- Ability to communicate with tact and diplomacy with internal and external customers
- Proficient with internet user-level technology
- Must stay current on operational, product, and system changes/enhancements
- Must demonstrate good risk management decisions
- Must have sophisticated understanding of each 4 types of need, transactional, savings, retirement and protection
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Prolonged use of hands and fingers
- Ability to lift light to heavy objects weighing 5lbs to 30lbs
- Ability to read fine print
- Ability to interact with customers in an open face-to-face work environment
- Ability to use fax, telephone system, copier and other communication tools
- Adhere to applicable compliance/operational risk controls in accordance with Company or regulatory standards and policies
- Maintain M&T internal control standards
- Complete other related duties as assigned
- Meet and maintain registration requirements under the Federal SAFE Act
- Must be able to effectively lead and coach others
- Strong attention to detail
- Must be available for weekend shifts
Desired Qualifications
- Associates degree
- Notary public license
- Minimum of 3 years financial services sales experience
- Bi-lingual based on branch needs
