Job Summary
Manage an assigned base of sophisticated wealth management clients by collaborating with client service teams and professional advisors to develop thorough understandings of goals and maintain mastery of governing documents and fiduciary duties. Lead conversations focused on goals-driven wealth management, providing proactive guidance on products, emerging issues, and regulatory changes while translating complex concepts into clear language. Recognize fiduciary risk issues and apply sound judgment in compliance with internal policies to support prudent risk management. Cultivate relationships with referral sources and external advisors to build the business and represent Northern Trust through community and professional organizations. Teach and mentor less experienced partners while serving as a subject matter expert on complex fiduciary relationships.
Required Qualifications
- College or university degree and/or equivalent professional experience
- 12–15 years of experience as a relationship manager or attorney in trust administration, estate administration, estate planning, or related fields
- Work Authorization in the U.S. without the need for employment-based visa sponsorship
- Extensive knowledge of fiduciary and financial products and services
- Demonstrated experience with fiduciary accounts
- Technical knowledge of investments, tax, legal, and operational considerations
- Strong skills in leadership, problem solving, negotiation, delegation, sales, and organizational effectiveness
- Ability to interpret internal and external business challenges and recommend best practices to improve products, processes, or services
