Job Summary
Senior Regulatory & Policy Counsel at Checkr translating complex regulations into clear compliance guidance for AI, data privacy, and background screening. You’ll monitor regulatory developments, conduct risk analyses, and lead proactive engagement with policymakers and government officials. Partner with Product, Engineering, and Customer Success to develop guidance on regulatory requirements and lead customer-facing conversations on policy and compliance. Own and improve Checkr’s policy hub, and build relationships with external stakeholders to drive advocacy and proactive strategies. Must have JD with 8+ years in regulatory law/policy/government affairs, demonstrated ability to translate legal analysis into actionable guidance, and strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills.
Required Qualifications
- JD required
- 8+ years of experience in regulatory law, policy, or government affairs
- experience engaging with policymakers, regulators, and government officials at federal, state, and/or local levels
- track record in regulated environments (e.g., consumer reporting, financial services, healthcare, employment)
- ability to translate complex legal and regulatory analysis into actionable guidance
- cross-functional collaboration and strong communication skills
- bias for action and ownership in fast-moving environments
- FCRA experience (nice to have)
- familiarity with AI policy and privacy laws (e.g., CCPA, GDPR, DPPA)
