Job Summary
Lead a team of analysts to monitor short-term crude oil and oil products market developments in the Americas, developing ad hoc analysis to keep clients informed on potential market impacts. Drive the creation of regional fundamental analysis covering supply, demand, trade flows, and inventories to establish monthly base-case forecasts for scheduled reports. Collaborate with global teams to refine cross-regional views on balances, prices, and refinery margins, while providing leadership on NGL/LPG market dynamics. Present research at conferences, engage clients in commercial relationships, and generate leads for ad-hoc reports. Mentor team members to advance their oil market knowledge. This role requires a minimum of eight years of experience in oil insights or trading, with strong quantitative skills in Python, SQL, and Excel. Based in Houston, the candidate must be willing to travel within the region and accommodate global time zones.
Required Qualifications
- minimum of eight years of experience either in the oil insights business, or in an analysis role for a trading organization, downstream company, or an integrated company

- demonstrable quantitative skills
- University degree (Master or Bachelor) within Engineering
- demonstrated knowledge of both crude oil and refined product markets including a strong understanding of crude oil qualities, supply locations, crude oil values, typical trade flows, refined product specifications, refinery operations, refinery margins, and product trade flows
- Strong quantitative skills including knowledge of Python, SQL, and advanced Excel
- Strong technical writing skills
- excellent verbal communication skills (English)
- Proactive, independent, open-minded, creative, and able to lead a diverse team effectively
- Willing to travel primarily within region but globally from time to time
- Travel within region may be one full week per month
- Willing to accommodate time zones for global collaboration
- Able to communicate verbally in Portuguese or Spanish is not required but is valued
Desired Qualifications
- Another technical degree may be considered only if the candidate has direct industry experience in oil market analysis or oil commodity trading that extends beyond crude oil and into refined products
