Job Summary
Act as the senior technical authority for depot infrastructure systems, ensuring compliance with statutory, regulatory, and engineering standards. Provide strategic leadership for infrastructure reliability, risk management, asset lifecycle planning, and long-term infrastructure strategy. Lead the resolution of complex infrastructure issues, incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action programmes. Govern technical assurance activities, including engineering reviews, standards compliance, and system integrity. Drive infrastructure modernisation, CAPEX investment, and depot expansion projects through technical leadership and risk assessment. Ensure effective infrastructure maintenance management, including CMMS governance and defect optimisation. This permanent position is based at the Temple Mills depot in Leyton, London. The close date is 5pm on Thursday, 3 September 2026.
Required Qualifications
- Degree-qualified (or equivalent experience) in an engineering or technical discipline
- At least 5 years' experience in railway infrastructure, depot operations, or a related engineering environment
- Extensive technical expertise in depot infrastructure systems, asset management, maintenance strategies, reliability improvement, and engineering assurance
- Proven experience leading complex fault investigations, technical risk assessments, incident investigations, and regulatory compliance activities
- Experience supporting infrastructure investment, CAPEX planning, asset renewals, depot modernisation, expansion projects, and system integration activities
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across Engineering, Operations, Projects, HSQE, contractors, and external partners
- Safety-focused engineering professional with experience in risk assessment, safety leadership, accident investigation, and driving continuous improvement in safety, reliability, and operational performance
Desired Qualifications
- Strong working knowledge of OLE systems, isolation procedures, Network Rail High Speed (NRHS) standards, EMMIS control systems, and other critical infrastructure assets
