Job Summary
Senior Quantum Applications Engineer at TRUMPF — at the intersection of quantum computing and industrial applications. Evaluate state-of-the-art quantum algorithms, translate customer/internal requirements into solution concepts for TRUMPF use cases, and collaborate with laser technology, EUV, semiconductor manufacturing, and photonics experts to identify high-impact quantum use cases. Combine quantum computing with HPC resources to build powerful hybrid pipelines and demonstrators; benchmark prototypes, document performance and scalability, and contribute to agile team processes. Present results to stakeholders, shape technology roadmaps, and cultivate relationships with technology partners, universities, and research institutes. Requires solid quantum computing expertise, hands-on experience with quantum SDKs (Qiskit, Cirq, PennyLane, Braket, or equivalents), HPC design/implementation experience (MPI/OpenMP/CUDA), a strong foundation in quantum mechanics/information theory, and a degree/PhD or equivalent in physics, computer science, mathematics, or electrical engineering. Excellent English communication skills; German skills or willingness to learn are welcome.
Required Qualifications
- Solid expertise in quantum computing with hands-on experience in quantum algorithms and error correction
- Practical programming with quantum SDKs (Qiskit, Cirq, PennyLane, Braket or equivalents)
- Experience in high-performance computing (MPI, OpenMP, CUDA or similar)
- Strong theoretical foundation in quantum mechanics and quantum information theory
- Background in physics, computer science, mathematics, or electrical engineering (degree, PhD or equivalent)
- Excellent communication skills in English; willingness to learn German are welcome
