Job Summary
Manage commercial performance and contractual administration for repair and maintenance projects, ensuring accurate cost, value, and cash reporting from mobilisation to final account. Interpret NEC contracts, manage compensation events and early warnings, and drive cost control while protecting commercial entitlement and margin. Support project reviews, dispute avoidance, and stakeholder negotiations with operational, finance, and client teams to maximise value and maintain strong governance. Work 40 hours per week in Bradford/Leyland, providing guidance to junior commercial team members and contributing to continuous improvement of commercial processes.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor within utilities, infrastructure, civil engineering, water, or capital projects
- Strong knowledge and practical experience of NEC contracts
- Experience managing project cost, value, forecasting, change control and commercial reporting
- Strong commercial and financial awareness, including risk management and cost control
- Ability to manage contractual processes and protect commercial entitlement
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and internal teams
- Confident communicator with the ability to influence and challenge where required
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
- Able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities
Desired Qualifications
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline
- RICS qualified or working towards professional accreditation
- Experience working within Yorkshire Water, AMP programmes or other regulated utility environments
- Experience using CEMAR or similar contract management systems
- Experience mentoring or supporting the development of junior commercial team members
- Strong reporting, data analysis and continuous improvement skills
- Experience working within long-term framework agreements or collaborative delivery models
