Senior Quantity Surveyor

Job Summary
Conduct cost control and financial reporting across construction projects, including checking contract drawings for errors, preparing tender documentation, and arranging subcontractor orders. Manage budget settlements, stage payment schedules, and variation orders while liaising with site managers on delays and extensions of time. Prepare financial reports such as internal valuations, margin analysis, and cash flow forecasts, and adjudicate subcontractor payments in accordance with group policy. Mentor direct reports, lead recruitment, and ensure accurate cost tracking using the Vistry Group construction system. Work within the Commercial, Estimating, and Buying team to maximize service quality and profitability.
Required Qualifications
- HNC / HND in Surveying or equivalent
- Proven experience as a PQS / SQS / Commercial lead working within a residential house builder
- A good understanding of building regulations and legal obligations
- A good knowledge of construction methods and materials
- Strong mathematical and IT ability
- Ability to assess and analyse information
- Good business sense
- Good understanding of budget management
- Negotiating and networking skills
- Excellent communications skills
- Able to work under pressure, and accept criticism of work
- Good team working skills
- Accurate with an eye for detail
- A methodical approach
- Willing to work extra to meet deadlines as and when the business needs require it

Desired Qualifications
- Degree in Surveying or similar
- Working towards being a Member of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), or Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS)
