Senior Quantity Surveyor

Job Summary

Provide expert commercial support across facilities management, property maintenance, and construction activities by managing budgets, developing cost models, and preparing work proposals. Monitor costs, support monthly reporting, and ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with contractual requirements. Collaborate with operational teams, clients, and supply chain partners to resolve commercial issues, negotiate contracts, and mitigate risks while maintaining strong commercial control. Support the full project lifecycle from initial planning through final accounts and post-contract cost control. This on-site role at RAF Lakenheath requires regular travel across USVF sites and involves a permanent, full-time schedule with a salary of £60,000-£70,000.

Required Qualifications

  • strong experience working within quantity surveying, commercial management, construction, property maintenance or facilities management environments
  • proven understanding of commercial processes, cost management, contract administration and risk management
  • experience developing cost models, preparing tenders and work proposals, managing variations and supporting commercial decision-making
  • experience managing multiple projects or programmes of work simultaneously, particularly within a complex operational environment
  • confidence working with stakeholders at all levels, with the ability to influence, negotiate and build effective working relationships with clients, suppliers and internal teams
  • strong communication skills and the ability to provide clear commercial advice
  • commercially aware, analytical and organised, with the ability to identify risks, solve problems and deliver practical solutions
  • experience working with supply chains, contract performance management and value improvement initiatives
  • relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying or equivalent experience
  • good understanding of health and safety, sustainability and industry standards
  • full UK driving licence
  • the ability to meet security requirements
  • experience within a defence, MOD or highly regulated environment
  • knowledge of collaborative working practices such as BS11000

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience managing multiple projects or programmes of work simultaneously, particularly within a complex operational environment, would be highly beneficial
