Senior Quality, Reliability & Durability (QRD) Engineer (VSEE) – Mechatronic Hardware

Senior QRD Engineer for Mechatronic Hardware at GM leading field issue identification, analysis, and resolution to reduce warranty exposure and improve customer satisfaction. Role connects customer experience, data analytics, and product engineering within Vehicle Software and Electronics Engineering Quality (VSEE Quality) to drive short-term containment and long-term quality improvements across global vehicle programs. Responsibilities include analyzing field data (DTCs, warranty claims, plant data, service information, customer feedback) to create actionable field-resolution plans; partitioning issues HW vs SW; tracking via GM systems/dashboards; representing VSEE QRD in CPIT/Focus CPIT/SMT Core PDT/QRD Reviews and escalation forums; planning and executing target sufficiency actions; managing breakpoints for service, plant, and OTA actions; forecasting quality and warranty targets; tracking trends and Top 20 issues; proactively identifying emerging issues; supporting fast response activities and service escalations; coordinating global QRD alignment; and communicating with engineering, manufacturing, service, and supplier teams. This role requires a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, experience with vehicle systems/mechatronics hardware/embedded control systems, use of QRD tools, cross-functional leadership, strong communication, and up to 10% travel. The position emphasizes AI-enabled tooling for QRD efficiency and is hybrid with a three-day in-office expectation per week (Tuesdays–Thursdays) at the Cole Engineering Center in Warren, MI.
