Job Summary
Execute and oversee the internal Corrective and Preventative Actions (CAPA) process while participating in site audits to identify improvement opportunities. Maintain QN and CAPA metrics, implement advanced statistical methods and predictive quality modeling, and perform root cause analysis using 5 Why, 8D, and Fault Tree Analysis. Drive continuous improvement through training on quality standards, maintain QMS documentation aligned with ISO 9001, and utilize tools like FMEA and control plans to drive quality into processes. Complete inspection procedures, record results, and generate detailed reports per company policy and customer requirements. Mentor junior staff and direct technical workers engaged in quality activities. This role reports to the Site Quality Manager at Axalta's Front Royal, VA facility, with a focus on protecting customer products across automotive and infrastructure markets.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Quality Assurance, Engineering or Chemistry
- High school degree and equivalent experience
- Strong analytical, statistical, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a team environment
- Ability to travel (less than 10% of total time)
- Ability to work in a manufacturing and laboratory environment
- 5+ years' experience in Quality Engineering position
- Experience in an automotive quality assurance environment
- Experience in automotive coatings formulation and/or application
Desired Qualifications
- Six Sigma Black Belt certification
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer, or similar certification
