Job Summary
Own automated coverage of the squad's REST/JSON APIs, contract tests, and decisioning logic, including authentication, authorization, and performance under load. Validate data pipelines by writing non-trivial SQL to trace events from capture through reporting surfaces and ensure operational store consistency. Test event-driven seams via Kafka message contracts and schema evolution, while covering failure modes green suites miss. Manage frontend quality across legacy server-rendered screens and modern TypeScript components, validating form correctness and revenue-dependent wiring. Diagnose defects by interpreting logs and metrics to reproduce issues and define release gates. Integrate third-party dependencies using service virtualization or real sandbox tests. Apply AI-assisted test generation and agentic workflows with critical judgment to ensure assertions are meaningful. Embed quality gates into CI/CD pipelines and mentor peers to raise the engineering bar.
Required Qualifications
- 6+ years hands-on QA / SDET experience
- demonstrable recent ownership of automated coverage for a long-lived production product
- API testing depth
- Contract testing in practice
- Hands-on experience with consumer-driven contract testing (Pact or equivalent) across service boundaries in CI
- Strong SQL
- BigQuery experience
- Event-driven testing experience
- Hands-on with Kafka or an equivalent broker
- UI automation competence
- A modern framework (Playwright preferred)
