Job Summary
Own the quality strategy across the Spring Boot + Kotlin backend and React + TypeScript frontend, from test architecture and automation frameworks to exploratory testing and release confidence. Partner with developers by reading code, pairing on tricky test scenarios, and shaping testability design into the system. Define coverage standards, build the tooling to achieve them, and challenge the team when requirements aren't ready to ship. Leverage modern AI tools daily for test generation, exploratory analysis, log triage, and accelerating spec authoring and bug investigation. Conduct API/integration, end-to-end, and component/unit testing while maintaining fast, stable CI/CD pipelines. Apply performance, load, and resilience testing principles to ensure mission-critical reliability for public safety operations.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional QA / test engineering experience, with senior-level depth in test strategy, automation, and quality ownership
- A strong understanding of our stack: you can read and reason about Spring Boot + Kotlin and React + TypeScript in the frontend, and you're comfortable contributing test code in both
- Hands-on experience with modern test automation — API/integration testing, end-to-end testing (Playwright, Cypress, or similar), and component/unit testing
- Solid grasp of CI/CD pipelines, test environments, and how to keep a test suite fast, stable, and trusted
- Experience with non-functional testing where relevant: performance, load, resilience, observability-driven testing
- AI literacy is a must — you actively use AI assistants (Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor, or similar) in your daily workflow and can show how they change how you design tests, investigate failures, and review code
- Excellent communication in English, both written and verbal — you can write a clear bug report, push back constructively in a review, and explain risk to non-engineers
- A proactive, ownership-driven mindset and genuine care for what the user experiences
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in regulated, safety-critical, or high-availability domains
- Experience defining QA strategy across multiple teams or services
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure), Kubernetes, and modern observability tooling
- Experience introducing AI-assisted testing practices at a team or org level
