Senior QA Engineer — Data Platform - Contractor role

Job Summary
Validate reports, dashboards, and aggregated metrics against upstream APIs and raw source data to ensure pipeline correctness. Design automated data quality checks using frameworks like Soda to validate freshness, volume, and distribution, while contributing these checks to data contracts and production monitoring. Test Airflow DAGs and Databricks jobs for scheduling, dependencies, backfills, and failure recovery, and develop automated tests for REST and GraphQL APIs to validate business logic and service reliability. Independently verify calculations, document ambiguous metric definitions, and present quality risks to technical and non-technical audiences. Partner closely with Engineering, Product, and Analytics teams to identify and prevent defects before they reach customers.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of QA experience
- Strong SQL skills with the ability to independently write complex queries
- Experience validating data against an upstream source of truth
- Comfortable working with raw API payloads
- Experience investigating reporting or data discrepancies
- 2+ years of automation experience
- Experience testing REST APIs
- Strong analytical and investigative mindset
- Excellent communication skills
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with Playwright (or Selenium/Cypress with a willingness to transition)
