Job Summary
Senior Python Data Scraping Engineer (Freelance) tasked with owning end-to-end web extraction workflows for complex sites, ensuring accuracy and delivery of structured datasets. Implements and optimizes scraping using Apify/OpenRouter alongside custom workflows, handles JavaScript-rendered sources, enforces data quality checks, and scales operations with batching/parallelization. Requires 5+ years in data engineering or web scraping, strong Python skills (BeautifulSoup/Selenium), experience with anti-bot techniques, cloud/Docker, LangChain/OpenRouter, and ability to work independently on a part-time remote basis.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of relevant experience in data engineering, web scraping, automation, or software development
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or related technical fields (preferred)
- strong Python web scraping experience (BeautifulSoup, Selenium or similar) including dynamic content (JS, AJAX)
- ability to extract data from complex structures (hierarchies, archived pages, inconsistent HTML)
- data cleaning, normalization, and validation; delivering structured datasets (CSV, JSON)
- experience handling anti-bot mechanisms and dynamic site structures at scale
- cloud infrastructure (AWS or equivalent) and Docker
- Hands-on experience with LLM frameworks (LangChain, OpenRouter, or similar)
- self-directed work ethic; ability to troubleshoot independently
- GitHub link a plus
- English proficiency (B2 or above)
