Job Summary
Senior Backend Engineer to design and build scalable Python microservices in a distributed architecture, with strong Python expertise (FastAPI or Django), on AWS (Lambda) and Docker, in a remote-first setup based in Poland or onsite relocation to Cyprus. You will design and implement scalable backend systems, integrate third-party APIs, improve CI/CD pipelines, lead code reviews, troubleshoot production in high-load environments, and contribute to best practices. Experience in fintech, payments, or financial platforms and familiarity with event-driven architectures (Kafka) are highly valued.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years backend engineering experience with strong Python
- Experience building and scaling microservices architectures
- Strong knowledge of FastAPI or Django
- Experience working with AWS (including services such as Lambda)
- Strong experience with Docker and containerization
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab preferred)
- Strong understanding of distributed systems and high-load environments
- Experience designing and optimizing systems for performance and scalability
- Solid experience integrating third-party APIs
- Experience in fintech, payments, or financial platforms
- Experience with high-throughput systems (e.g. trading, payments, real-time processing)
- Familiarity with event-driven architecture (Kafka, messaging systems)
- Experience mentoring or supporting other engineers
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a remote-first environment
