Job Summary
Senior Purchasing Agent role focused on acquiring goods and services for district groups, developing and maintaining vendor relationships, and ensuring optimal expenditure value. Responsibilities include researching and developing sources based on price/quality/availability, organizing and conducting tests/demonstrations of items, handling bids/contracts and evaluation committees, preparing annual bid processes, publishing testing results and bid specifications, training and supervising junior purchasing staff, and managing confidential procurement matters. The role also emphasizes equity and collaboration, driving effective vendor negotiations, and leading process improvements within a public school procurement context. Requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, five years of purchasing experience, vendor relations experience, familiarity with purchasing tools/ERP, and Colorado driver's license; CPPB/CPPO/CPM/APP or equivalent preferred; strong communication, leadership, and analytical skills.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or relevant work experience
- Five years of experience in purchasing
- One+ year of experience working with vendors, administrators, and school staff
- One+ year of experience using purchasing tools/ERP and working with budgets, account codes, and p-card policies
- Valid Colorado driver’s license or ability to obtain within required timeframe
- Certified Public Purchasing Buyer (CPPB), Certified Public Purchasing Officer (CPPO), Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM), Accredited Purchasing Practitioner (APP) or equivalent - Preferred
- Strong knowledge of commercial math and computer literacy (ERP software, Google Apps, Word, Excel)
- Effective time management and organizational skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to influence and persuade
- Ability to lead and mentor staff; manage multiple deadlines
- Ability to work with staff at all levels and maintain equity and integrity in operations
