Job Summary

Provide specialist knowledge and advice to influence improvements in psychological health and safety across Victorian workplaces, focusing on reducing work-related harm. Identify and manage current and emerging psychosocial hazards and risks, interpreting complex data to inform decision-making and develop evidence-based initiatives. Actively support complex workplace psychosocial interventions, build organizational capability, and write expert reports. Represent WorkSafe as an expert witness in court proceedings and tribunal forums as required. The role involves training and appointment as an inspector under OHS legislation, with a requirement to complete the Diploma of Government within two years. Full-time position based in Melbourne CBD or Geelong with travel throughout Victoria.

Required Qualifications

  • Registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia
  • Accredited post-graduate qualification in Psychology (such as Masters or Doctorate degree) or equivalent industry experience
  • Eligibility for membership of the Australian Psychological Society (APS)
  • Appointment as an inspector under the OHS and/or other legislation
  • Demonstrated extensive experience in psychological health and safety and psychosocial risk management with a proven track record of achieving positive outcomes for workplaces
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, including demonstrated ability to interpret complex technical information and data
  • Ability to undertake effective research and analysis and produce accurate reports and advice on emerging psychological health and safety issues
  • Demonstrated ability to liaise in a professional manner with a range of internal and external clients/stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to train, develop and motivate employees in a team environment
  • Australian or New Zealand citizenship or permanent residency

  • You may be required to complete the Diploma of Government within the first two years of appointment, depending on operational policy and requirements
