Senior Protection and Control Design Engineer

Job Summary
Prepare Protection & Control engineering designs for HV/EHV substations, developing Single Line Diagrams, AC/DC Schematics, Wiring Diagrams, Terminal Plans, Cable Schedules, and Interconnection Diagrams. Design Protection Relay Panels, Control Panels, Annunciation Panels, Metering Panels, and RTU/SCADA interfaces, while preparing relay settings philosophy and coordinating with system studies. Perform protection coordination, review relay configurations, and execute engineering calculations for cable sizing, voltage drop, and battery sizing. Coordinate with Civil, Primary, Telecom, and SCADA teams, review vendor drawings for compliance, and support FAT, SAT, commissioning, and technical issue resolution. Ensure all designs meet IEC, IEEE, National Grid, and client specifications while supporting project execution through quality, safety, and schedule requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- Experience in HV/EHV Substation Protection & Control Design
- Knowledge of protection schemes for Transmission and Distribution substations
- Experience with protection relays from manufacturers such as Siemens, GE, ABB/Hitachi Energy, Schneider Electric, or SEL
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office
- Excellent communication and coordination skills
- Ability to independently deliver complete Protection & Control engineering packages
- Experience working in multidisciplinary engineering environments
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills

Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of IEC 61850 and substation automation systems
- Familiarity with SCADA, RTU, SAS, and communication protocols
- Experience in UK, Middle East, Europe, or international utility projects
