Job Summary
Senior Propulsion Engineer role focused on solid rocket motor development from concept to flight qualification. Responsibilities include propellant development and characterization, rocket motor hardware and ground testing hardware development and ownership, propellant manufacturing processes, quality and reliability assurance, and frequent static fire testing. Lead CAD design and manufacturing collaboration, create CAD models and prints, perform designs using hand calculations, CAD (Solidworks, NX), FEA, and analysis; develop propulsion system components and support DoD/allied programs; conduct post-test/post-flight data reviews and work with engineering and production teams to generate improvements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, structural engineering, or Chemical Engineering
- 5+ years of experience with Solid Propulsion Rockets, and was a lead on University Rocket team
- High proficiency in CAD software (Solidworks, NX)
- Strong ability to design for manufacturing
- Masters in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, structural engineering, or Chemical Engineering (preferred)
- Strong background in chemical engineering and manufacturing (preferred)
- Strong background in solid rocket propulsion development (preferred)
- Strong background in rocket and missile design and development (preferred)
- Experience testing aircraft, rocket stage or engine systems, or other systems (preferred)
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and ability to succinctly communicate in high-stakes, time-sensitive situations (preferred)
