Senior Property Accountant

Job Summary
Senior Property Accountant responsible for accurate and timely financial information for a portfolio of 5–8 communities within a REIT. Collaborate with Community Managers and Accounting Team to perform day-to-day financial operations including maintaining tenant ledgers, reviewing AP activity and GL coding, completing monthly close (bank reconciliations, journal entries, closing matters), producing monthly financial reports and balance sheet reconciliations, and assisting the Operations Team with the annual budget process. Participate in external audits, identify process improvements, administer accounting procedures and internal controls, and utilize accounting IT systems such as Yardi and Rent Manager. Requires independence, initiative, and strong communication across diverse teams; travel 1–2 trips per year to visit communities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
- Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience
- Advanced degree and/or CPA is strongly preferred, but not required
- Real estate or manufactured housing background a plus, but not required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables & formulas such as XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, IF statements)
- Experience with databases, Power Query, SQL, VBA is a plus
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines
- Willingness to travel 1-2 trips per year for training or to visit communities
