Senior Property Accountant

Job Summary

Prepare accurate monthly financial statements, analyze budget-to-actual variances, and reconcile GST/HST obligations in accordance with accounting standards and internal policies. Monitor cash positions, complete monthly bank reconciliations, and manage major expenditures including mortgage payments, payroll, and owner distributions. Support tenant invoicing, sales/turnover closings, and year-end operating cost reconciliations while preparing annual operating budget components. Train and mentor property accounting staff on cycles, procedures, and property files. Requires CPA program enrollment, 4-5 years of accounting experience, and proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Required Qualifications

  • Enrolled in CPA program
  • Minimum 4-5 years accounting experience
  • Minimum 2-3 years commercial/retail property accounting experience
  • Experience with full cycle property accounting
  • Experience with CAM/Tax recoveries
  • Experience with financial statement preparation
  • Supervision of staff
  • Intermediate to advance skills in Excel
  • Intermediate to advance skills in Word
  • Intermediate to advance skills in other Microsoft Office programs
  • Police Clearance
