SENIOR PROPERTY ACCOUNTANT

Job Summary
Supervise and support a team of three to four property accountants while overseeing monthly financial reporting, operating statements, and external compliance for owned and managed assets. Monitor accurate, timely analysis for properties in various development stages and prepare cash flow forecasts to evaluate distributable proceeds. Coordinate transitional accounting for assets entering or exiting management, including system setup validation and final financial reviews. Assist in maintaining accounting systems and leading team meetings to provide supervisory feedback. Based in the Arlington corporate office in Birmingham, AL, this role requires advanced MS Excel skills and US GAAP knowledge within a fast-paced environment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business (BA/BS) from a four-year college or university
- At least 10 years of related experience
- Advanced MS Excel skills
- Strong technical skills and general knowledge of US GAAP accounting principles
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Broad knowledge of financial statements and operations
- Highly responsible and diligent about work product
- Proactive, self-starting, and capable of thriving in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced environment
- Able to work professionally, efficiently, and effectively under deadlines and productivity standards
- Ability to remain at a desk and use a computer for extended periods
- Ability to review detailed financial statements and reporting packages on screen and in print
- Ability to communicate clearly with property accountants, operations personnel, ownership, and third-party advisors
- Ability to lead team meetings and provide supervisory feedback in person and virtually
- Ability to lift files or materials up to 15 pounds
