Job Summary

Senior Propellant Engineer responsible for project engineering duties including cost proposals, planning, technical oversight, SOPs, QPPs, ACPs, and mentoring junior staff. Makes critical propellant technical decisions and facility decisions on ECMP projects. On-site at Naval Surface Warfare Center Indian Head in Maryland; collaborates with government agencies, contractors, and vendors to ensure safe, cost-effective manufacturing capabilities, process development, and regulatory compliance. Requires U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain security clearance, with an on-site, high-activity work environment; includes leadership of multi-disciplinary engineering teams and preparation of detailed process design documentation.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering
  • 8-10 years of experience as a Propellant Engineer or closely related field OR a Master's with 6-8 years of experience
  • U.S. Citizenship with ability to obtain a security clearance
  • Interim Secret clearance
  • Proven proficiency in analytical and technical skills for synthesis, monitoring, and scaling of energetic materials
  • Experience managing multiple, complex projects with diverse stakeholders (government agencies, contractors, vendors)
  • Experience with process safety and regulatory compliance
  • Leadership and mentoring experience across multi-disciplinary engineering teams
  • Ability to work effectively in high-pressure, dynamic environments and handle changes in scope
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to tailor presentations/reports to diverse audiences
  • Ability to undergo and pass a Department of Transportation compliant medical exam
  • Ability to undergo and pass a drug screening
  • On-site role at Naval Surface Warfare Center Indian Head
  • Experience with design documentation (process flow diagrams, SOPs, BOMs)
  • Collaboration with vendors and subcontractors to communicate design, fabrication, testing requirements
  • Develop and execute goals aligned with client objectives
  • Implement safety and quality programs
