Job Summary
Lead wastewater treatment design projects for public utility clients by managing the planning phase, coordinating with engineering disciplines, and interfacing with permitting specialists. Contribute to business growth through proposal preparation, client interaction, and active participation in professional associations. Effectively communicate project expectations to teams and clients while conducting QA and QC reviews. Employ earned value management principles to prepare and monitor work plans, schedules, and budgets. Provide technical assistance and mentoring to junior staff. Expand professional knowledge by attending seminars, workshops, and conferences, and participating in state and national associations. This role is located in the Fairfax, VA office with hybrid or in-person opportunities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, or Environmental Engineering
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in the water/wastewater field
- Thorough knowledge and ability to apply theories, principles, concepts, and practices of civil and environmental engineering to the planning of water, wastewater, and reclaimed water conveyance and treatment systems
- A successful track record of managing projects, including scope, schedule, and budget
- A successful track record in managing clients and developing new business
- P.E. in Virginia, Maryland, DC, North Carolina or the ability to obtain them through reciprocity within one year of the start date
- Must have proven and strong verbal and written communication skills
- Must be able to obtain P.E. through reciprocity within one year of the start date
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree preferred
- Programming and/or scripting experience is preferred
