Job Summary
Lead project development, funding acquisition, and implementation for native trout habitat restoration initiatives across the Sierra Nevada. Manage staff, contractors, and subcontractors while overseeing grant budgets, permit applications, and NEPA compliance. Facilitate inclusive stakeholder engagement with tribes, agencies, and community partners to advance watershed restoration projects. Coordinate construction logistics, monitoring, and adaptive management for active projects in remote settings. Report to the California Inland Trout Program Director, based within two hours of Truckee. Requires a strong background in natural resources management and experience directing multiple restoration projects.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors, Masters, or PhD in natural resources management or policy, business, conservation science, or related field
- Understanding of Western watershed and federal land issues
- Understanding of watershed science and restoration
- Minimum of 5-7 years of project management experience
- Experience identifying or developing new projects and initiatives

- developing shared goals and understanding among people and agencies needed for success
- Experience supervising staff and building teams
- Ability to positively motivate high individual performance
- integrate multi-disciplinary staff into functioning teams
- Ability to successfully facilitate complex logistics for project work in remote locations that is subject to last minute change
- Ability and willingness to travel, estimated 10-15% of time
- Valid driver's license and own vehicle required

- Passion for protecting and restoring Sierra Nevada headwater habitat
