Job Summary
Lead and manage product development projects within the Spine R&D organization from initiation through completion, driving execution through a Gate-based New Product Development (NPD) framework. Independently manage moderate scope and complexity projects, ensuring alignment of cross-functional teams, achievement of key milestones, and compliance with regulatory and quality requirements. Partner with R&D, PMO, Quality, Regulatory, Supply Chain, and other functions to define objectives, timelines, and success criteria while proactively identifying risks and developing mitigation strategies. Prepare status updates for stakeholders and contribute to continuous improvement of project governance and methodologies. This role supports Johnson & Johnson's Orthopaedics teams as they develop innovative, less invasive treatments for spine, trauma, and robotics.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field
- 4+ years of project management experience, preferably in the medical device industry
- Demonstrated success managing projects from initiation through completion, with accountability for scope, schedule, and deliverables
- Experience supporting product development projects within a structured New Product Development (NPD) environment
- Proven ability to partner effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders within a matrixed organization
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify risks, evaluate alternatives, and support effective resolution of project challenges
- Highly organized and self-directed, with demonstrated success managing multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality, accurate project outputs
- Proficiency with standard project management and productivity tools (e.g., MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook), with the ability to adapt quickly to new systems
Desired Qualifications
- Advanced technical or business degree
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
- Experience supporting or leading cross-functional teams within a matrixed organization, including geographically distributed team members
- Familiarity with project lifecycle management (PLM) systems within a structured development environment
- Experience using SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to support project governance, collaboration, and reporting
