Job Summary
Lead all activities related to contract administration, change orders, procurement, schedule, and financial reporting while creating project plans that outline tasks, timelines, and resources. Communicate with stakeholders, manage risk, and monitor progress against the schedule. Secure required permits, verify insurance coverage for subcontractors, and facilitate project meetings to coordinate work activity. Lead, train, and develop project team members, and prepare monthly job status reports outlining priorities and issues. Drive a culture of safety, participate in proposals and presentations, and proactively identify relationships with industry professionals to generate new work. Take an active role in recruiting top industry talent and establish positive working relationships with counterparts at owner, engineering, and design firms. Monitor project deadlines and lead project close-out, including turnover of manuals, warranties, and final payment documents. This active, hands-on role requires navigating construction sites with uneven terrain and lifting materials up to 50 pounds, alongside desk time for document review. Success demands flexibility to work extended hours, especially during critical phases, and the ability to respond to time-sensitive communications.
Required Qualifications
- Undergraduate or graduate degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, a related discipline, or relevant work experience
- 7+ years of construction experience
- Working for a general contractor on large-scale construction projects
- 4+ years leading, developing, and motivating teams
- Understanding of the strategic, operational, and financial components of a construction project
- Ability to make timely and effective decisions
- Experience managing projects successfully from start to finish
- Skilled at developing and negotiating relationships with owners and trade contractors
