Job Summary
Senior Project Manager to supervise and perform professional scientific work in environmental engineering and geology on project sites under the E-Designation and City’s Voluntary Cleanup Program. Responsibilities include managing development projects and approving plans, site investigation reports, and remedial action work plans; ensuring environmental requirements are met on project schedules; implementing applicable laws and regulations to meet strategic environmental, remedial, and engineering goals; gaining fluency in OER programs (NYC VCP, E-Designation Hazmat, Noise and Air) and other programs like JumpStart, BIG Grants, Brownfield Partnership, Green Team, Green Property Certification, SPEED, EPIC, Clean Soil Bank; leading communications with development teams, the public, elected officials, and other city agencies; overseeing and reviewing work products by Project Managers; participating in field sampling and remediation activities; reviewing Site Management Plans and proposing changes based on inspection findings; preparing original proposals and complex reports; maintaining databases and archives for program oversight. Also notes that Environmental Engineer exam is open with deadlines and that competitive-class placement may require additional qualifications.
Required Qualifications
- A valid New York State Professional Engineer License (P.E.)
- Four years of full-time experience in environmental engineering
- Master's degree in environmental engineering from an accredited college will be accepted as equivalent to one year of full-time experience
- Special Note: to be eligible for placement in Assignment Level II or III, at least one year within the last three years of experience as a major contributor or a project leader on a complex project requiring additional and specific expertise in the disciplines needed to design or construct the project
