Job Summary

Senior Project Manager within NYC Department of Design and Construction, Public Buildings Division, responsible for managing complex capital commitment projects from inception through close-out. Lead scope definition with Sponsor Agencies, develop and monitor cost estimates and deliverable dates, supervise design/construction management staff, resolve design/construction issues, negotiate with contractors and vendors, process change orders and project estimates, ensure safety compliance, generate reports, attend meetings, and oversee contractors' performance while coordinating Project Managers and Junior Project Managers.

Required Qualifications

  • One year of full-time satisfactory experience supervising employees performing project management work for engineering/architectural/landscape architectural projects, or supervising a construction project with value $1,000,000 or more
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, architecture, landscape architecture, architectural technology, construction, construction management, construction technology, sustainable design, urban planning, urban studies, city planning, transportation planning, business administration, or public administration and one year of project management experience
  • Or a four-year high school diploma and five years of relevant experience
  • Or a combination of education and experience to make the five-year equivalent, with credit for additional college credits, master's degree, JD, or professional engineering/architect licensure as specified
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience or prior project management for large/complex construction projects
  • Eligibility to work in the United States without visa sponsorship (no OPT/STEM/H-1B sponsorship) and proper work authorization when employment is offered
  • Educational credentials from a US Department of Education-recognized institution (foreign credentials require equivalency evaluation)
  • Ability to meet civil service criteria including continuing eligibility and compliance with agency requirements
  • Demonstrated experience in reviewing cost estimates, managing schedules, evaluating change orders, and coordinating with Sponsor Agencies or stakeholders
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and reporting requirements for construction projects
  • Experience overseeing design, construction management, and construction staff; coordinating and directing project managers and junior project managers
  • Ability to generate reports, attend meetings, and ensure project deliverables and timelines
