Job Summary

Senior Project Manager / Associate sought to deliver roads, highways and major civil infrastructure packages for a UK-wide programme. Role involves leading or supporting package leadership from design and procurement through construction, testing, handover and close-out, with accountability for scope, programme, cost, quality, risk and safety. Responsibilities include coordinating inputs across client, consultant, contractor and internal teams; managing highways, bridges, earthworks, drainage and utilities interfaces; leading railway interfaces near operational railways; planning logistics and traffic management for live highways; embedding best-practice delivery, digital information management and whole-life carbon awareness; and supporting procurement, risk, governance, reporting and change control. Requires understanding of UK infrastructure delivery requirements (DMRB, NEC considerations), ability to translate constraints into actionable delivery plans, and strong stakeholder and interface management. Location note: wider team is London/Birmingham; role will transition to Bedford with at least three days per week in Bedford. Qualifications include construction project management or civil engineering qualifications with membership in a professional body desirable; full-time role with hybrid working and travel to Midlands sites. The team is generally London and Birmingham based; however, this role will transition to be Bedford based, with an expectation to be in Bedford at least three days per week.

Desired Qualifications

  • Construction project management qualification
  • Civil engineering qualification
  • Membership of a professional body such as APM, ICE, RICS, CIOB or equivalent is desirable
  • Experience delivering roads, highways, bridges or major civil infrastructure projects
  • Experience with NEC forms of contract is desirable
  • Strong programme, risk, change, reporting, stakeholder and interface management capabilities
  • Ability to lead defined workstreams or significant packages
  • UK highways and infrastructure delivery knowledge (DMRB, local authority highways)
  • Experience working with interfaces to National Highways, Network Rail, utility providers
  • Hybrid working arrangements and ability to travel to Midlands sites
  • Bedford-based presence with three days per week in Bedford
