Job Summary
Senior Project Geotechnical Engineer and project manager to support surface mining, mine waste storage and heavy civil infrastructure design and analysis. Provides project leadership in civil and geotechnical design, water management for mine waste facilities, and multi-disciplinary mining projects. Leads project teams, develops proposals, mentors staff, reviews engineering reports, coordinates detailed civil/geotechnical designs, and advises clients on regulatory compliance. Requires BA/BS with 8+ years of experience (or equivalent), and a PE license; MSHA training preferred. Location: Reno, NV; in-person work. Relocation sponsorship not provided.
Required Qualifications
- BA/BS + 8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Valid U.S. Driver’s License
- MA/MS Civil Engineering or related field of study
- 12+ years or more of relevant experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) License
- MSHA Miner training
- Demonstrated progressive experience in civil design, construction documentation, geotechnical, water management, construction monitoring and operations
- Progressive project experience including task leadership and project management roles on design and design-build projects
- Ability to serve as primary point of contact with the client and develop client relationships
- Lead designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, construction specifications, and final working drawings
- Work with CAD designers to produce construction-level drawings including grading, drainage and roadway plans, profiles, details, and sections
- Perform work in accordance with agreed upon scope, budget, and schedule
- Scope/estimate complex civil & hydraulics projects
- Track and manage task budgets and schedules
- Author reports and prepare/or direct preparation of detailed calculation packages including proper documentation and references
