Senior Project Engineer

Job Summary

Prepare detailed project engineering designs for medium to large projects, including flow and pressure tables, pipe sizing, and pump selection. Produce all necessary engineering drawings such as P&IDs, fabrication documents, and vendor drawings, while checking other engineers' work. Generate and process purchase orders for equipment and electrical controls, coordinate deliveries with fabrication vendors, and draft CAR or NCR documents. Supervise equipment fabrication, monitor system modules and vessels, and document testing results. Execute field equipment startup and commissioning, preparing logs and reports to document processes. Communicate project status through reports, meeting minutes, and action lists. Coach junior engineers, review their technical work, and provide feedback on performance evaluations. Maintain awareness of technical developments and recommend new products or improved sources. Adhere to Fuel Tech policies, safety plans, and all applicable codes and standards.

Required Qualifications

  • BS in Engineering
  • experience with LNB (Low NOx Burners)
  • experience with OFA (Overfire Air)
  • experience with SNCR (Selective Non-Catalytic Reduction)
  • experience with SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction)
  • extensive experience with utility boilers
  • extensive experience with industrial furnaces
  • extensive experience with related equipment
  • extensive experience with Project Design
  • extensive experience with Spreadsheet
  • extensive experience with Presentation
  • extensive experience with Word Processing
  • 10 to 12 years of project engineering
  • broad experience in designing and executing engineering projects
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
  • Travel (<50%)
  • extended periods of two weeks in the field

  • Extensive knowledge of engineering tools and methods
  • knowledge of boiler plant work practices

  • Proficient with process industry standards and safety codes
  • Exposure and/or demonstrated proficiency with hydraulic pipe modeling software
  • Able to perform duties and responsibilities with minimal supervision and oversight
  • Applies engineering principles to solve complicated design problems
  • Demonstrates attention to detail
