Senior Project Applications Engineer, Cooling Systems

Job Summary
Senior Project Applications Engineer position focusing on HVAC cooling systems in Pittsburgh. Responsible for reviewing RFQ/RFP information, preparing compliant quotations with BOMs and total cost of ownership, negotiating contracts and pricing, building and maintaining customer relationships, and developing project plans with goals, schedules, resources, risks, and contingencies. Provides technical application engineering support to internal and external stakeholders, coordinates on-site service needs, represents the organization in technical meetings and site visits, tracks project status and documentation per quality processes, and recommends product/system applications to meet customer requirements. Authors electrical schematics, system diagrams, and mechanical drawings; communicates technical solutions clearly; collaborates with management to identify risk and cost-saving opportunities, and leads factory witness tests or acceptance testing. Requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferred) and 5-7+ years of HVAC product applications or related experience; data center infrastructure knowledge; strong analytical and communication skills; project leadership experience; MS Office proficiency; military experience a plus.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (huge plus)
- 5-7+ years of HVAC product applications, outside technical sales, and/or mechanical cooling experience
- Strong understanding of data center infrastructure and mission-critical environments
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret market data and translate into business action
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams)
- Strong presentation and communication skills; able to influence internal and external stakeholders
- Demonstrated project leadership, including scheduling, cross-functional collaboration, and milestone tracking
- Previous military experience is a huge plus (Navy, Army, Air Force roles related to power generation/Electrical/Mechanical)
