Senior Project Accountant

Job Summary
Manage the financial management of construction projects, including gross profit, percentage-of-completion forecasting, work in progress, revenue recognition, and backlog reporting. Prepare and consolidate financial reports in compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), oversee cost management activities, and validate vendor invoices for compliance and accuracy. Resolve billing discrepancies, monitor outstanding payments and cash collections, and conduct regular cost reviews to identify variances. Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, audit project profit and loss reports, and respond to internal and external auditor requests. Collaborate with project teams to gather financial information, provide regular updates on project status, and champion partnerships between the finance team and operational stakeholders. This role requires a Secret level security clearance and is based in the Ottawa office.
Required Qualifications
- University degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum 4 years of relevant project accounting experience
- Advanced Excel proficiency, including experience with complex formulas, XLOOKUP/INDEX-MATCH functions, and dynamic arrays
- Ability to build, develop, and maintain positive working relationships with multiple stakeholders
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet competing deadlines, and perform effectively in a dynamic environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and effectively prioritize workload to achieve business objectives
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to obtain secret security clearance
Desired Qualifications
- CPA designation or other relevant professional designation
- Proficiency with ERP systems; experience with Viewpoint Vista, 4CastPlus, or InEight
- Experience supporting commercial, institutional, or large-scale building construction projects
