Job Summary
Senior Project Accountant leads the financial management of mechanical construction projects, owning job cost accounting, subcontract administration, billings, compliance, and financial reporting. Acts as a financial partner to Project Managers, Operations, Purchasing, and Accounting leadership to drive cost control, identify financial risk, and support project performance throughout the project lifecycle. Exercises independent judgment on complex billing structures, subcontractor compliance, and month-end close activities, while supporting process improvement, internal controls, and junior accounting staff when applicable.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of project accounting experience, preferably in construction or mechanical contracting
- Strong understanding of job cost accounting, WIP schedules, and percentage-of-completion revenue recognition
- Proficiency with construction accounting software such as Procore, Viewpoint, CMiC, Sage Intacct, or similar
- Ability to independently manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines
- Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills
