Job Summary
Senior Programs Underwriter on the Innovative Program Solutions team in the Des Moines area. The role involves developing and negotiating price, coverage terms and conditions for new and renewal IPS business to generate profitable and sustainable growth, collaborating with agents, brokers, and carriers to align with IPS guidelines, and managing an IPS portfolio of business. Responsibilities include conducting program reviews, audits, and performance assessments to identify opportunities for improvement, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and delegated underwriting authority, and contributing to strategic planning for program development, expansion opportunities, and product innovation. The position emphasizes applying underwriting expertise to understand client operations and deliver best-in-class risk solutions and services, supported by a team of agent and carrier professionals.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma; college degree preferred
- Minimum 5-7 years of underwriting or relevant insurance experience
- Active state-specific Property Casualty Insurance agent’s license required or the ability to acquire license within three months of hire
- Strong knowledge of program and insurance principles; ability to develop and apply expertise to deliver client value
- Relationship management skills and collaboration with agents, brokers, and carriers
- Ability to analyze, interpret, and evaluate information to craft innovative risk solutions in line with regulatory and internal policies
